Matariki

This year I did nothing for Matariki, except on Thursday I participated in our schools Matariki Gala by performing for our MPA class and selling churros and donuts. We were selling them to fundraise money for our trip to Japan & Taiwan for cultural exchange. That’s all I did.

Te Pu o Te Wheke

Kia ora. Today in Maori we watched Te Pu o Te Wheke, they are from Kaikohe and they were really good. My favourite item from their bracket was their poi and the haka, throughout the whole bracket the energy stayed up and it didn’t drop. There are three roopu that represent Te Tai Tokerau , they are Te Rangi Aniwaniwa , Te Rawhitiroa and Te Pu o Te Wheke. Te Pu o Te Wheke were really good and I liked their performance a lot.

Trigonometry & Pythagoras

So these past few lessons in Maths we have been learning about Trigonometry & Pythagoras. We have been using a site called Education Perfect. Learning with Ed Perfect has been really fun and it’s a step away from just normal book work. If you don’t get an answer right it’ll keep giving it to you, and if when you get it wrong it’ll show you working out to help you get the right answer. Learning Trigonometry & Pythagoras was definitely difficult but when I got a question right I felt so accomplished. I can say that I can do simple Trigonometry & Pythagoras , but I cannot do difficult ones yet. =-0

Math

In math we’ve been learning how to simplify ratios. Ratios are where one amount is compared with another amount. So you take one whole number and another whole number and divide those until you get the smallest whole number.

Science Fair

In science these past few weeks we have been working on our science fair projects, Anahera & I have been working on making a rollercoaster (never happened). Although we have done so much research on them, we’ve worked out what kind of energy the rollercoaster needs for it to go around a loop, where the tallest rollercoaster in the world is & how tall it is, how fast some rollercoasters go and much more. We had to restart on our board but other then that our board looks pretty good. We attempted to make a rollercoaster but it didn’t work. We figured out that it needed to go very fast to go around the loop, we had used a pool noodle that did not end up working. Overall science fair #2 was good.

My ideal holiday

If I could go anywhere for a holiday without paying for anything, I would go to Tokyo. There are so many reasons why I would want to go there, 1 the food, 2 the people, 3 the atmosphere & many many more. The main thing that draws me to Tokyo is the food for sure. Everytime I see Asian people eating , they are always eating food that looks so filling. This question passes my mind every once and a while & I always think about the same 3 places.

Tokyo , Maldives & South Korea. One of my biggest goals in life has always been to travel, it seems so unrealistic but if I had an opportunity like going on a free holiday I would take it in an instant.

My Holiday

Holidays started, my family and I headed to Taupo for a little get way or whatever you would call it. We did so many cool things, ice skating, Mount Ruapehu & many other things. As the first week of the holiday came to an end we went up to Auckland and I went to my Dads. With my dad we went to an arcade, shopping, roaming around the city and did a lot of eating. Overall my holiday was eventful & boring at the same time. When we went up Mount Ruapehu it took us a very long time cause we went the wrong way at first then we had to turn around after driving for an hour. As we were climbing the mountain I kept falling down through the snow which was very frustrating to me. There was my brother, my mum, my stepdad Reagan & my little cousin, after about 20 minutes in the snow I tapped out cause it was to cold and the snow was coming through my jacket.

Onto week 2 , when I was at my dads there was a lot of just chilling out my aunties came up from Gisborne. That was pretty cool, we also went to this huge & I mean huge arcade. We ate a lot of Mc Donald’s & KFC we went to the movies and went shopping, I went to work with my dad ( he’s a drain – layer ) that was very boring to me cause I just had to sit in the car, it was cool to see how he works and the environment he works in is a very funny and uplifting one.

Unlike other people I had 3 weeks off school instead of 2, & the third week of holidays I also spent at my dads, we did a lot more productive stuff that week. My stepmum her daughter & I went to her uncles farm and did some farming stuff (it stunk) but it was better then sitting at home doing nothing. Then my dad took me up to Warkworth & put me on the bus and I came home. That’s all I did this holidays.

Leadership.

Mental strength

Confidence

Kindness

These are some of the things that can lead you to being a good leader.

One of the most important aspects of leadership is the ability to listen. A good leader is someone who is able to hear what others have to say, and who is able to take their ideas and incorporate them into the overall vision. A leader who is able to listen is also someone who is able to empathize with others, and who is able to understand their needs and concerns.

Take Matua Dion for instance, he is a very soft spoken fulla but he is a strong and powerful leader who gets his point across, he is also in most cases very sympathetic and is able to get you to do something  although it may not seem like something you are very comfortable in. He is able to

push you to be your best self and past your comfort zones. That’s a supportive leader.  A good leader is also someone who uses their collective abilities to then execute their strategic plans. They don’t get to choose where and when they want to be a leader, they have to use their “leadership skills” on an everyday basis to be chosen.

Leadership is also a quality that is often admired, but not always understood. Being a leader means more than just telling people what to do. It means inspiring others to be their best selves, and to work together towards a common goal. A good leader is someone who is able to communicate effectively, and who is able to motivate others to do their best..

Another important aspect of leadership is the ability to be decisive. A good leader is someone who is able to make tough decisions, even when they are not popular. This means being able to weigh the pros and cons of a situation, and to make a decision that is in the best interest of the group as a whole.

Finally, a good leader is someone who is able to inspire others. This means being able to communicate a vision, and to get others excited about working towards that picture you’ve created. A leader who is able to inspire

Cultural interaction

This week in Social studies , we’ve been filling out this book. There were 3 chapters of the book with activities in them.  The first chapter was the introduction , the second was culture & land , the last chapter was culture & food. For each chapter, there were many activities that we had to complete.
